2008 Updates

December 2008

Here are a few images from the few months (September, October, November, December) of work on our house.

  • Our list was small but the tasks were large as we approached December--electrical, ceiling, walls, plumbing--all on the east end, as well as the glass block in the master shower on the west end. We also needed a vanity for the master bathroom. Small list, tall tasks. (We will have final pictures of each room as it is completed and furniture placed.)
  • Some of our last tasks were to complete the electrical on the east end of the house. Our wonderful electrician, KC, with whom we have had some really good laughs, and his helper Pepe, completed wiring the east end the week before Christmas. Duncan finally tackled the glass block to complete the master shower and the great room area. Brendon, Pepe and Duncan also completed the ceiling and dry wall on the east end. see November-December progress
  • In November, Pepe's daughter Valeria joined us for some fun with the last bit of clay to go on the walls of the master bedroom. Val just might be a budding artist. She loved working in the clay. Jeffery completed the front porch before departing on a 3-week adventure to Argentina. Duncan completed the front entry by adding stone steps. He had the chance to step back and admire his work before the snow started and covered it up. The final touches were added to the master bathroom with the completion of the tile work around the tub. Duncan and Laura added the Shoji screens to make the tub surround more private--or open, as desired. We happened to catch a beautiful early winter sky while returning to the condo in Winter Park one evening. see October-November progress
  • Our friends, Judy & Bobby, came to help us in September put clay on the ceiling and walls and around the windows of the great room. We think we worked them far too hard! They did a fabulous job! Mike completed the tile work in the master shower. Isn't it beautiful? see September progress

We're very grateful for all of the hard work of friends and family and fellow workers who have joined us on this long journey!
